The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) is a one-year conversion course designed for any non-law graduate who intends to become a solicitor or barrister in the UK (formerly known as the Common Professional Examination (CPE)). It is the stepping stone to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) for those intending to qualify as solicitors or the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) for those intending to qualify as barristers.
The GDL offers a pathway to the LPC by covering the seven core academic subjects of an undergraduate law degree as an equivalent 'fast-track' course. We encourage a questioning approach to ensure that the thinking behind the legal concepts is fully explained.
